Richard
Pascale
January 11, 1953 – April 30, 2026
In Loving Memory of Monk Antonios Pascale (Richard Michael Pascale) Monk Antonios Pascale, known in his earlier years as Richard Michael Pascale—and affectionately as “Red” to those who loved him—reposed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and deep love for others. In his youth, Richard was full of life, strength, and spirit. He was a standout tight end for Miami Edison High School, where he helped lead his team to an undefeated AAAA championship in his senior year—an achievement remembered with pride by teammates and friends alike. After high school, he answered a call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army. His time stationed in Germany broadened his perspective and deepened his character, laying the foundation for a life marked by discipline and purpose. Upon returning home, Richard pursued higher education and earned a Master’s Degree in Theology, a reflection of his growing devotion to God and his desire to understand and live a life of faith more fully. This path ultimately led him to embrace the monastic life within the Eastern Orthodox Church, where he became known as Monk Antonios. Under the spiritual authority of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Monk Antonios faithfully served at the Monastery of the Glorious Ascension in Resaca, Georgia. There, he found not only a spiritual home but a large and loving extended church family. His presence brought warmth, humility, and a quiet strength that touched countless lives. Beyond the monastery, Monk Antonios also built deep connections within his neighborhood in LaFayette, Georgia, where the cul-de-sac he called home became its own kind of family. He was known as a man with a big heart—generous, kind, and often disarmingly funny. He had a natural gift for lifting others up, offering help without hesitation, and making people feel seen, valued, and loved. He is survived by his loving sisters, Theresa Theodorou and Eva Markle; his uncle, Michael Hennessy; his aunt, Mary; his brother-in-law, Kosta Theodorou; his nieces Stephanie, Maggie Theodorou, and Lexi and Evie Silvers; his nephew Joseph Audas; his cherished grand-nieces Emilee and Aubree; and his cousins Lucille, Joyce, Jennifer, Brooklyn, and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Richard and Elizabeth; his sister, Betty Ann; and his brothers, Peter and Jim. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Monastery of the Glorious Ascension in honor of Monk Antonios. Monk Antonios lived a life rooted in faith, service, and compassion. Whether on the football field, in military service, within his family, or in the quiet devotion of monastic life, he gave his whole heart. His legacy is one of humility, generosity, and enduring love. May his memory be eternal! Services to celebrate the life of Monk Antonios will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Noon at The Monastery of The Glorious Ascension, 5052 S. Dixie Hwy, Resaca, GA, 30735, with Father Laurance Powell officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Monastery Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the monastery. |
