Mr. Richard Allen Esslinger, age 73, of Calhoun, GA, departed this life, Monday September 17, 2018 at Gordon Hospital.
Richard was born in Dalton, Georgia on April 11, 1945. He was a son of the late Francis Allen and Lula Mae Sims Esslinger. Along with parents, he is also preceded in death by his first wife, and the mother of his children, Carol Moreau Esslinger; his second wife, Yolanda Marian VanLoo Esslinger; and a son, Thomas Esslinger.
He was a local Licensed Practical Nurse for over twenty-three years. At one time he owned and operated his own car sales business, Richard's Auto Sales in Adairsville, Georgia.
Richard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Rich" and Carla Esslinger of North Carolina, wife of the late son Thomas Esslinger, Kimberly Garner Esslinger of Alabama; brother, Bobby Esslinger of Dalton, Georgia; sister, Martha "Marty" Esslinger of Dalton, Georgia; grandchildren, CarolAynne Esslinger of Fairmount, Georgia, and Thomas Chandler Esslinger of Statesville, North Carolina; nieces, Chelsea Vaughn and her husband Roger of Madison, Georgia, Julie Sane and her husband Jake of Dalton, Georgia, Jenny Payne and her husband Andrew of Chatsworth, Georgia; special friends, Anthony Charles and Cheri Esslinger of Fairmount, Georgia; several other nieces, nephews, and other family also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Richard Esslinger will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Brother Clyde McEntyre officiating. Richard will be laid to rest at Haven of Rest Memorial Park alongside his first wife Carol. Thomas Esslinger, Roger Vaughn, Trey Vaughn, and Anthony Charles will all serve as pallbearers.
Richard's family will receive visitors on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour of 2:00 P.M.
