Reverend Jackie Olen Pitts, age 63 of Dalton, Georgia, was carried home by Angels on Wednesday July 30, 2014 at Erlanger Medical Center. Jackie was born April 14, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Charlotte Neal Pitts. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Pitts, grandchildren, Angel and Melody Mejia, great grandchild, Keiran Sage.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline Pitts of Dalton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Kip Casteel of Cohutta, GA, Lori and Johny Mejia, Rachael and Shawn Callahan, April and Clay Pangle, Kim and Tony Jones, Holly and Brandon Cross all of Dalton, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Gary Griffin, Brenda and Everett Miley of Chatsworth, GA, Sheila and Sonny Brooks of Dalton, GA, Debbie Pitts Goble of Rocky Face, GA; fifteen grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Reverend Jackie Olen Pitts will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor James Whaley and Reverend Mike Watkins officiating. He will be laid to rest at the United Memorial Gardens with his sons-in-law serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. noon Saturday until the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made for final expences.
