Obituary

Reverend William Jack Giles age 86 of Marietta, Georgia, departed this life Sunday February 19, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born July 13, 1930 in Knoxville, Tennessee, a son of the late John E. and Hattie Ella Emmert Giles. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of sixty-eight years, Katherine Christine "Sue" Giles on July 27, 2016, sisters, Helen Gibbs and Dorothy Whaley and a brother, Charlie Giles.

Jack was saved at an early age and his life was devoted to serving Jesus Christ. He was ordained in The Church of God of The Union Assembly in October, 1949 and pastored many churches throughout the country and was overseer of several states. He was a member of Nelms Smyrna F & AM Masonic Lodge #323. He was a precious person and loved his family dearly.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon K. and Vernon Bond of Dalton, GA, Glenda R. Pratt of Marietta, GA, Rhonda J. and Fred Cassell, Jr. of Kennesaw, GA, Marlene and Franklin Jones of Dallas, GA, and Sheena and Robi Wingrove of Ringgold, GA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Lamar Gazaway of Dalton, GA;sister and brother in law Theda and Tony Marie of Dalton, GA and brother and sister in law Johnny and Ozell Giles of Knoxville, TN, twenty three grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Reverend William Jack Giles will be held Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of God of The Union Assembly with Reverend Charlie T. Pratt, Reverend Charlie Bell and Reverend Rodney Kennedy officiating. Music will be provided by Marsha Hughes, The Beelers and Regina Rogers. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at West Hill Cemetery with Reverend Rodney Kennedy officiating. Deacons, Clinton Smith, Michael Smith, Donny Tate, Ronnie Duke, Lee Peppers and Dell McLemore serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Frankie Jones and Larry Hopkins. His grandsons, Les Wells, Jay Smithson, Scott Smith, Jay McCarter, Mark Biester, Eric Biester, Dusty Biester, Ty Eaton, Josh Eaton, Evan Wingrove and his granddaughters, Michelle Sowder, Paula Wilson, Sherry Bond, Brianna Clark, Shonda Watson, Leslie Carter, Beth Idles, Pam McCleary, Kelly Sammons and Regan Wingrove will be special escorts. A white dove release will conclude at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at The Church of God of The Union Assembly, 2211 South Dixie Hwy., Dalton, GA, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017 and also after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017 until the service hour.
