Reverend William Edgar Painter, age 87, of Resaca, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday evening, December 31, 2023, at Ridgewood Manor. He was born September 26, 1936 in Cherokee County, North Carolina, a son of the Edgar and Mamie Coleman Painter. He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Painter, daughters, Wanda McCain, Kathy Painter, sisters, Betty Allgood, Regina Vernor, Marie Fox.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, James and Jackie Panter, Jeffrey and Sandra Painter of Resaca, GA; sisters, Reba Chastain, Ann Marrow of Tunnel Hill, GA; grandchildren, Kerrie Hustler, Timothy and Kara Panter, Brandy and Reed Hicks, Stephanie Painter, Kayla Bates, Sean Brownlow; great grandchildren,  Henry, Isabella, Kaelyn, Bryson, Cade, John, Destiny; nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Reverend William Edgar Painter will be held Saturday January 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Timothy Panter, Adam Thomas and Gladen Coe officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Reed Hicks, Sean Brownlow, Drew Bates, Shane Gibson, Tony Ridley and Larry Buttrum serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
