Reverend Larry "David" Allen, age 71, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday, June 19, 2020 at his residence. Reverend Allen was born in Dalton, Georgia on March 31, 1949.  He was a son of the late J.Y. and Billie Hedden Allen.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Allen; brother, Marvin Allen; and sister, Shirley Hargiss, grandson Joshua Allen. Mr. Allen had been employed by Providence Ministries as an alcohol and drug counselor.

Reverend Allen is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Angelia and Marshall Smith of Chatsworth, Suzette and Michael Rose of Rome; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Reverend Allen will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 12:00 Noon in Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Wesley Noland officiating.  He will be laid to rest at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.  Ray Hedden, Jeff Hedden, Marty Allen, Kolby Smith, Floyd Loftis, and Brandon Williams will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 AM until the 12:00 Noon service hour at Ponders Melrose Chapel.

Due to the national health crisis crowd restrictions and social distancing is recommended.
