Obituary

Mr. Rellmon "RJ" "Rooster" Julius Shipman, 85, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on August 7, 2018 at Chatsworth Health Care in Chatsworth, Georgia.

He was born in Whitfield County on May 22, 1933 to the late Albert A.V. and Beatrice Peek Shipman.

During RJ's life he never met a stranger.  He was a lifelong Whitfield County resident and was of the Baptist faith.  He loved eating his Pork and Chicken. Mr. Shipman is preceded in death by siblings, Annie Jones, David and Floyd Shipman.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Danny William and Angie Shipman of Dalton; sisters,  Bonnie Hight, Frances Powell, and Linda Brown all of Dalton, and Margie Mathis of Murray County;  his companion and special friend, Lois Watkins and J.L. Brown and several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of RJ Shipman will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Shipman officiating.

He will be laid to rest at the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Gary Shipman, Buddy Shipman, Jimmy Parker, Cameron McAllister, Dustin McAllister, and Matthew McAllister all honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2018 between the hours of 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home.
