Mr. Reed Junior "Gear Jammer" Cochran, age 79, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday evening, January 2, 2018 at the local hospital. Reed was born August 18, 1938 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Alvin Prince Cochran and Eula Nancy Ellis Cochran Ledford. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Norton Cochran and sons, Daniel Lynn, Benny Joe and Terry Cochran, and sisters, Ruby Cables and Dorothy Sutton. Reed was a truck driver and worked many years at Custom Coating and World Carpet.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lawanda and Jimmy Cochran; brother, Cecil and Pat Cochran; grandchildren, Brandi Renee Bivens, Dustin and Breana Bivens, MaKayla Cochran; great-grandchildren, Gracelynn Harley Bivens and Jayce Bivens; special friends, Dale Rininger, Debbie Stephens, Dwight Stephens and Brittany Stephens; several nieces and nephews.
Home Going services to celebrate the life of Mr. Reed Junior "Gear Jammer" Cochran will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Junior Williams officiating. He will be laid to rest at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dale Rininger, Brandi Bivens, MaKayla Cochran, Dwight Stephens, Ron Traveres and Jimmy Cochran serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday and after 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
