Mr. R.B. Buttrum, age 84, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life, Friday, June 10, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. R.B. was born May 6, 1932 in Cartersville, Georgia, a son of the late Marvin and Thelma Romine Buttrum. He was also preceded in death by first wife, Betty Sue Buttrum, son, Roy Buttrum, grandson, Tony Buttrum, daughter, Linda Long, brothers, Howard Buttrum, Eugene Buttrum, Buford Buttrum, sister, Mildred Wyatt. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church in Rydal, Georgia.

He is survived by his devoted wife of thirty-five years, Carolene "Sissy" Buttrum of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Betty Ann Buttrum of White, GA, Daniel and Suzanne Pendley, David Pendley; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. R.B. Buttrum will be held, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Donnie Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Log United Methodist Church Cemetery with Randy Smith, Zachariah Conner, Bryson Pendley, John Fowler, Joseph Leatherwood, Timothy Nicholson, Steven Parker and James Wilson will serving as pallbearers. Jason Conner, Kenny Conner, T.J. Buttrum, Austin Buttrum, Austin Willix and Brady Willix serving as honorary pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday and after 12:00 p.m. Tuesday until the service hour.
