Obituary

Mr. Rayford Sherrill Couch, age 84, departed this life Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the local hospital.  Rayford was born October 14, 1934 in Murray County, Georgia, a son of the late Ray and Ethel Lee Southerland Couch.  Rayford was the owner and operator of Dalton Textile Salvage Company for many years.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Couch and his brother, Clarence "Moucey" Couch.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Bryson Couch of the residence; sons and daughter-in-law (who he thought of as a daughter), Randy and Lorenda Couch of Rocky Face, GA, and Robert Couch of Dalton, GA; special friends, Gene Dugger of Eton, GA, Barry Pangle and Midge Knight of Dalton, GA, and Rev. A.J. Waters of Calhoun, GA; several cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Rayford Sherrill Couch will be held Monday, October 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend A. J. Waters officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with his close family and friends serving as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 10:00 a.m. Monday until the service hour.
