Mr. Ray Bradford Overby age 82 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the local hospital. He was born June 12, 1939 in Murray County, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Bill Overby and Hubert Lee and Eula Mae Sisson Shoemaker, his wife Mary Frances Smith Overby, grandparents, John and Jennie Shoemaker, George and Etta Mae Sisson, brother, Robert Shoemaker, sister, Judy Duckett.

He is survived by his son, David Overby; daughters, Linda Lackey, Lisa Overby; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Anita Shoemaker; sisters, Becky Smith all of Dalton, GA, Betty Shoemaker of Tunnel Hill, GA; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Ray Overby will be held Saturday May 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the McFarland Hill Baptist church with Reverend Gary Jarrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
