Mr. Ramon G. Gonzalez Sr., age 67, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the local hospital. He was born August 24, 1946 in Harlingen, Texas, a son of the late Manuel Gonzalez and Maria Rodriguez. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ramon G. Gonzalez Jr., daughter, Virginia Gonzales, brother, Joaquin Chavez, sister, Iris Chavez.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Maria Gonzalez of the residence; sons and daughter-in-law, Raymondo Gonzalez of Huston, TX, Manuel Gonzalez and Nadia Garcia of Texas, Gerardo Gonzalez of Mexico; daughters, Rosa Pizarro of Dalton, GA, Elizabeth Gonzalez of Mexico, Flor Izaguirre of Dalton, GA; brothers, Gregorio Cantun of Texas, Andres Chavez of Dalton, GA; sisters, Virginia Ginez of Texas, Marvelia Chavez, Maria Moreno of Dalton, GA, Purificacion Chavez of Texas; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Ramon G. Gonzalez Sr. will be held Saturday May 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Praxedis Gomez officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
