Ms. Rachel A. Buckner, age 71, of the Cool Springs Community in Murray County, Georgia, departed this life, Monday November 9, 2020 at her residence.
Rachel was born February 8, 1949 in Murray County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Paul Adams and Ada Jones Adams. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Jane Calvin and Martha Beavers and brothers, James Martin, Berry Martin, Junior Martin Davis Martin, Ray Martin and Cecil Adams.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Celeste and Reverend William Taylor of Cohutta, GA, and Jacinta and Brent Capehart of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Timothy Townsend, Scott Townsend, and Sabrina Townsend; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Townsend, Cieanna Townsend, Jessalyn Townsend and Caralee Townsend; brother and sisters-in-law, Don and Judy Martin of Dalton, GA, Frances Martin of Calhoun, GA, and Joyce Adams of Denison, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Dot and Troy Forrester of Varnell, GA, and Rosa King of Ringgold, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Rachel A. Buckner will be held Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church, (4330 Holly Creek Cool Springs Road, Chatsworth, GA, 30702,) with Reverend Shane Pierce and Reverend Josh Parker officiating. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with her grandsons, Timothy Townsend, Scott Townsend and Benjamin Townsend and her special grandsons, Michael Hamby, Donald Malone and Richard Hensley honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 300 W. Emery St. Ste. 106, Dalton, GA, 30720.
Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
