Mrs. Peggy Ann Owen, age 92, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Saturday morning, November 16, 2024. Born July 24, 1932, in Sugar Valley, Georgia. She was the cherished daughter of the late Joe Barney and Ruby Alice Treadaway Holcomb. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of sixty-four years, David H. Owen; her son-in-law, Leonard Dlugonski; and her brother and sister-in-law, Max and Martha Holcomb of Dalton.

Peggy's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and dedication served as the foundation of her family. Her home was always filled with warmth and laughter, where she shared the beauty of her garden and the bounty of her vegetables with loved ones. Peggy was an avid gardener and an active member of local garden clubs, cultivating an abundance of flowers and vegetables that reflected her nurturing spirit.

A proud graduate of Berry College in 1953, Peggy shared her passion for education as a teacher at Valley Point Elementary School for several years. In 1977, she and her husband, David, founded Owen Carpet in Dalton, GA, a family business they operated together until 1989. Peggy treasured the time spent working alongside her husband and the employees who became an extended part of her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Kay Dlugonski of Dalton, GA, and Donna Holsomback of Sugar Valley, GA; her grandchildren, Justin and Cheslie Smithey, Jeremy and Ariana Smithey, Jessica Dlugonski, and Jeremy Steady; and her great-grandchildren, Lydia Steady-Dlugonski, Grayson Smithey, Violet Smithey, and Oliver McNeese. She is also survived by her nephew and niece, Michael and Angela Holcomb. Her family carries forward her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.

Visitation to celebrate the life of Peggy Owen will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, 138 Melrose Dr., Dalton, GA.
