Mrs. Pearline Mulkey Payne age 82, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday October 20, 2015 at the local hospital. Pearline was born November 18, 1932 in Bartow County, Georgia, daughter of the late Carthon Mulkey and Dora Hart Evans. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Payne, sons, Gary Ray, Douglas and Archie, and one infant son, brothers, J.T. Mulkey, C.W. Mulkey, Claude Mulkey Jr. sisters, Ella Mae Childers, Hazel Parker.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Sammy Avens of Sumter, SC, Betty Joe, Johnnie Sue Thompson of Buchanan, GA, Rachael Payne of Resaca, GA, Donna and Ricky Cook of Rocky Face, GA, Daphney Jones and Gerald Beavers, Beverly Dixon of Dalton, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Fredrick and Vivian Mulkey of Cartersville, GA, Lloyd of Chattanooga, TN, Richard Goldin of Draketown, GA, Diane Ray of Varnell, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Jack Coker of Calhoun, GA, Dale and Phares Parsons of Dalton, GA; nineteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Pearline Mulkey Payne will be held Friday October 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Randall Childers officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Cemetery in Gordon County with Steve Allen Massingill, Cody Jones, Mitchell Arnold, Jacob Dixon, Kevin Mulkey, Levi Thompson, and Lundy Thompson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gabriel, Alexis, Patrick and Jonathan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
