Mr. Paul Perry Burgess Sr., age 87, of Fairmount, GA., departed this life, Sunday May 8, 2016 at his home. Paul was born February 14, 1929 in Jasper, GA, to the late, Carter Burgess and Mamie McWhorter Burgess. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Marcelle Evans Burgess; daughter, Judy Caylor; great-grandchildren, Emily and Molly Caylor; brother, Glenn Burgess; brothers-in-law, Edwin Harris, Tom Weeks and James Roland. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, His life was his faith and family and enjoyment came when all were gathered around the table for holidays and other celebrations. Paul was a member and a deacon at Ranger Baptist Church. He also was a member of Morning Star Lodge # 349 for over 60 years. He had the honor of serving as Master of the Lodge twice and past Master of the Tri-County District. Paul was also a member and past president of Echota Vann Shrine Club and a member of Yaarab Shrine Temple.

Mr. Paul Perry Burgess Sr., is survived by his family; son, Paul Jr. and Amy Burgess of Rome, GA; daughters, Paula and Danny Taylor of Adairsville, GA, Joy and Jim Dodd of Fairmount, GA, Pam and Steven McGlamery of Fairmount, GA; son-in-law, Lamar Caylor of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren, Paul "Trey" Perry Burgess III, Rhett Burgess, Ryan Burgess, Dan and Tundra Taylor, Will and Lindsay Taylor, Marilyn and Johnnie Coats, Jayme and Will Crowley, Kristl and Chad Grant, Steve McGlamery, Evan and Rebecca Caylor Marc and Heather Caylor; great-grandchildren, Wes Taylor, Braxton Coats, Braeden Coats, Madilyn Joy Coats, Miranda Caylor, Charlotte Caylor, Benjamin Caylor and Hannah Caylor; sisters, Gladys Harris, Faye Weeks, and Ruth Roland, special family member, Phyllis Lacey, and many nieces, nephews and many friends.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Paul Perry Burgess Sr., will be held, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from Ranger Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Hall officiating. Music will be provided by his daughters and grandchildren. Burial will follow at Fain Cemetery with Dan Taylor, Marc Caylor, Evan Caylor, Will Taylor, Steve McGlamery, Trey Burgess, Rhett Burgess, Ryan Burgess, Johnnie Coats, Will Crowley, Chad Grant, Wes Taylor, Braxton Coats, Braeden Coats and Benjamin Caylor. Paul's masonic brothers of Morning Star Lodge #349 will be in charge of graveside rites.

The family will receive friends from Ponders Fairmount Chapel, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Paul will lie in state on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Ranger Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour, 3:00 p.m.Ponders Fairmount Chapel, 2566 Hwy 411 SE, Fairmount, GA. 30139 706 337-3784
