Obituary

Patricia Kilby was born on September 20, 1950, making her 63 years old at the time of her death on February 11, 2014. She married R. Hancel Blalock on May 29, 1971, and was happily married for 42 years. Patricia was preceded in death by her older brother, Donnie Kilby and her father, Hardie Kilby. She is survived by her husband, Hancel Blalock; her mother, Edith Kilby; nephew, John Kilby; mother-in-law, Geraldine Blalock; brother-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Blalock and is wife Belinda; one niece, Machesha Phipps; nephew, Ryan Blalock and one great nephew, Xander Phipps.

Pat was the youngest of two children born to Hardie and Edith Kilby. While born in Ellijay, GA, she grew up in Dalton. She had a rich spiritual heritage which moved her to set spiritual goals. She was baptized on July 10, 1964, in Jacksonville, FL. From an early age she desired to be a missionary-teaching others about Jehovah God and his son, Jesus Christ. That desire caused her to begain a career of full-time service in 1967 while still in high school. While never serving in a foreign field, she enjoyed her "missionary work" for 47 years primarily in Georgia until her death, with brief assignments in North Dakota and Texas. On May 29, 1971, she married Hancel Blalock, a school mate that became her soul mate and shared her love for "missionary work". He worked with her full-time service for over four decades of their marriage. She liked cooking, travel and flowers- particularly orchids. She had a quick wit, big smile and jolly disposition. She had a knack for lifting the spirits of those around her. She enjoyed life and was never bitter that hers turned out to be shorter than she hoped. She felt blessed to have lived it to the full with few regrets. She had a strong faith in God's promise of the resurrection to life in a paradise earth without sickness and death. (John 5:28, 29) She, also, looked forward to taking part in the global educational work to take place then (John 6:44, 45); where she could finish her missionary passion for teaching others about Jehovah God and his son, Jesus Christ,
