Pastor Alvin Lee Suggs, age 68 of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life, Tuesday May 14, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Alvin was born February 6, 1945 in Calhoun, GA, a son of the late Walter and Thelma Boswell Suggs. Alvin was also preceded in death by his wife Pasty Yvonne Silvers Suggs, as well a daughter Angie Smallwood. Alvin was Pastor of the Assembly of Faith Church; He was truly devoted to his family and his church. He loved fishing and eagles.
Alvin is survived by sons and daughter in law; Barry Suggs of Calhoun, GA, Darren and Michelle Suggs of Calhoun, GA; daughter, Deanna Suggs of Calhoun, GA, sister Rose Carter of Cartersville, GA,; brother; Houston Suggs of Cartersville ,GA. Alvin had sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Services to celebrate the life of Pastor Alvin Lee Suggs will be held 2:00 PM on Friday May 17, 2013 at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral home with Pastor Brian Neil officiating. Music will be provided by Chris Suggs and Charles Bray. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Assembly of Faith Church Cemetery with Chris Suggs, Daniel Smallwood, Lee Smallwood, Jonathon Cordell, Joshua Cordell and Lamar Keene serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel, Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00pm.
