Obituary

Mrs. Ollie Mae Hayes Weaver, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday evening, July 4, 2014 in the comfort of her home. Ollie Mae was born September 21, 1939 in Murray County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Gordon Lee and Hazel Brackett Hayes. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny Hayes and Buddy Hayes. Ollie Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was of the Baptist faith and for many years kept children in her home. She was an avid collector of all different kinds of cookie jars.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Cecil E. Weaver of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Hughes of Dalton, GA, Kathy Hall of Calhoun, GA, Renea and Nick Muse, Lillie and Jeff Weaver all of Dalton, GA; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy Hayes of Ranger, GA, Tommy and Bertie Hayes of Chatsworth, GA, Charlie and Kim Bailey of Dalton, GA; sisters, Louise Ball, Shirley "Cookie" and Charlie Skidmore, Jane and James Land all of Dalton, GA, Jewell McBrayer of Rocky Face, GA; great-aunt, Barbara Burkhalter; special niece, Allison Bailey-Hufstetler; special friends, Sue Massingill, Clara Holland and Jean Baker; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ollie Mae Hayes Weaver will be held Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend James Mooney officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Lonely Dove Cemetery with Charlie Bailey, Chris Bailey, Lamar Wilson, Jeff Weaver, Daniel Weaver, Sam Weaver, Nick Muse and Joe Hufstetler serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel after 3:00 p.m. Sunday until the service hour.
