Nancy Dianne
Hobgood Johnson
June 29, 1948 – April 9, 2026
Ms. Nancy Dianne Hobgood Johnson, age 77, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, April 9, 2026, at River Street Manor in Wilkes-Barre.
Dianne was born June 29, 1948, in Trion, Georgia, a daughter of the late W. Myers and Blanche Jackson, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William M. “Sonny” Jackson, Jr., and her brother-in-law, Billy Raper.
A 1966 graduate of Dalton High School, Dianne was a woman whose presence could brighten any room. She truly never met a stranger—her warm spirit, radiant smile, and genuine love for people made everyone feel welcome. She thrived in the company of others, loved a crowd, and her greatest joy was cooking for her friends and family.
Dianne loved her friends and family deeply. Though she suffered greatly from the effects of Parkinson’s disease for the last ten years of her life, she never allowed it to diminish her joy or her ability to uplift others. Her nurses adored her and called her their “Georgia Peach”.
She is survived by her son, Francis McDonald “Chip” Hobgood, III of Scranton, Pennsylvania; her daughter, Kristin Spoon of Chattanooga, Tennessee; son-in-law, Bjorn Spoon and her beloved grandchildren, Cressa (Michael) Blackburn, Eli (Hobgood) Fleming, Chase Hobgood, Riley Spoon, and Katherine McBride; her sister, Cheryl Raper of Chatsworth, Georgia; her brother, Don (Carol) Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia; and nieces and nephews, Angie, Bryan, Leah, Dillion and Andrew.
Memorial to celebrate the life of Ms. Dianne Johnson will be held Saturday evening, July 25, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel. Inurnment will follow with her family at West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ponders Melrose Chapel, Dalton, Georgia.
