Mrs. Merita Eyvon Stewart, age 65, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday morning, November 7, 2015 at the local hospital. Merita was born May 20, 1950 in Copperhill, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Coleman and Omalee Allen Watts. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Call.
Merita was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and always put others first. She was formerly employed at J & J Industries.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Stewart of the residence; son, Billy Stewart; daughters, Eyvonne Bowman, Tonya and Gary Welch; grandchildren, Matthew and Brittany Stewart, Brandy Bowman, Jordan Welch, Kayla Bowman and Seth Cordele; great-grandchild, Ian Stewart; seven brothers, three sisters, several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Merita Eyvon Stewart will be held Monday, November 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend James Watts officiating. She will be laid to rest at Dawnville Cemetery with Matthew Stewart, Phillip Turner, Gary Welch, Blake carter, Fred Ray and Danny Watts serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 11:00 a.m. Monday until the service hour.
