He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Vary Etta Greeson Redwine, and Clarence Wiley and Ludie Mae Talley Massingill.
Melvin was a skilled craftsman who worked in masonry and construction, but he will be most remembered for his heart of gold and his unwavering willingness to lend a hand. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sugar Valley, Georgia.

He is survived by his sons, Adam Massingill Wilson, and River Garrett Massingill, as well as several grandchildren. He also leaves behind his devoted sisters, Wanda Holland of Cumming, GA, Sue Ledford of Dalton, GA, and Diane Evans (Porter) of Resaca, GA. Additionally, Melvin is survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, Junior and Kim Redwine, Sybil Brady all of Dalton, GA, Nancy Kirby, and Pat and Michael Muse all of Resaca, GA, and Bill Wheat of Sugar Valley, GA, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
The family will gather for a celebration of Melvin's life on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, (!46 Bayview Dr., Sugar Valley, GA., 30746) with Reverend Brandon Grubbs and Reverend Donnie Mattila officiating. Melvin will be laid to rest with his parents at Fairview Cemetery at Hall Memorial. Pallbearers honored to serve include River Massingill, Adam Massingill Wilson, Kevin Ledford, Dustin Bates, Jaden Tate, Bryan Majors, Steve Massingill, Tony Mills, and Tommy Muse.
