Ms. Maudie Juree "JoJo" Potts, age 80, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Quinton Memorial Health Care. JoJo was born July 5, 1934 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late William Fred and Madeline Hayes Potts. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Junior Head, her brother, William "Dub" Potts and a great-nephew, Alex Head. JoJo excelled at softball and played ball all of her life. She was a member of the Ladies Softball Hall of Fame, loved doing crafts and was a member of the Baptist Church. She was retired from Georgia Sample Company.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Sharon and Wes Norris of Dalton, GA, Vickie and Renny Tinsley of Atlanta, GA, Terry and Debbie Head of Ringgold, GA, Ricky and Susan Head of Dalton, GA, Kenny Potts of Atlanta, GA; great-niece, Nikki Hill; great-nephew, Andrew Head; great-great-nephew, Braden Keller; great-great-nieces, Madison Harris and Katy Beth Tinsley; several cousins.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Maudie Juree Potts will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Dale Lawhorne and Dr. Rodger Whorton officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Dug Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 1:00 p.m. Saturday until the service hour.
