Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Hood Worley, known by most as "Liz", 67, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life early Saturday morning, June 29, 2019 at Quinton Memorial Health Care Center in Dalton, Georgia.

Liz was born in Dalton, Georgia on January 18, 1952.  She was a daughter of the late Clemson Lee Hood Sr. and Carlynne Ruth Royal Patterson.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by step-father, Jack Patterson.

Liz was always a people person and never met a stranger.  She lived her life devoted to helping others.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clifford Worley of Tunnel Hill; sons, Johnny Strickland of Tunnel Hill and Barney Strickland of Lafayette; sisters, Katherine Hood and Linda Hood both of St. Augustine, Florida; brothers, Corbin Hood of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lee Hood of Jacksonville, Florida; and a special friend, Ruby Tate of Dalton.

Services to celebrate the life of Mattie Elizabeth will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Wayne Owenby and Reverend Hugh Burdette officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park.  Gary Jackson, Randy Tate, and her friends, the staff of Ponders Funeral Homes will be honored to serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Worley's family will receive friends on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
