Ms. Mary Beth Rhudy, age 91, of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at AdventHealth Gordon in Calhoun, Georgia, surrounded by her loved ones.
Mary Beth, affectionately known as “Beth,” was born on October 6, 1934, in Rocky Face, Georgia. She was truly one of a kind — a woman who lived life on her own terms, with strength, grace, and a touch of spirited independence that made her unforgettable to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Frances Owen Cook and Charlie D. Cook; her son, Thomas Rhudy; her brothers and sister-in-law, James K. and Lillie Hall, Alton W. Hall, Raymond Hall, and Molly Hall; her sister and brother-in-law, Mamie Ruth and John Artrip; and her brother-in-law, Leroy Defore.
Beth was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend to everyone she met. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson, whom she helped raise and care for with unwavering devotion. She spent her life nurturing others, always putting family first and offering love, wisdom, and steady support.
A 1951 graduate of Dalton High School, Beth retired from Beaulieu of America after many years of dedicated service. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, working puzzles, and painting — a hobby she took up during the COVID pandemic. She loved cats, the color purple, and most especially her beloved Shih-Tzu/Jack Russell mix, “Sweet Pea,” who brought her endless companionship and joy.
Beth’s vibrant personality, caring heart, and fiercely independent spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford and Joann Rhudy of Alabama, Randal and Kim Rhudy of Rocky Face; grandchildren, Renae and Tracy Wells, Tommy Rhudy (Stephanie Serritt), Brandon and Joanie Rhudy, Ryan Rhudy, and Rebecca Rhudy (Tyler Hodge); great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Brilynn Wells, Kinlei Rhudy, Hunter Gilbert, Caisley Leinenger, Brayse Leinenger, and Aven Serritt-Moore; great-great-grandson, Wyatt Gilbert; sister, Phyllis Defore of Chatsworth, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hall of Rocky Face, Georgia, and Lynn Legare Hall of Magnolia, Texas; along with several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Mary Beth Rhudy will be held Wednesday February 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Roger Whorton officiating. She will be laid to rest at Swamp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Whitfield County, Georgia, with Tommy Rhudy, Brandon Rhudy, Ryan Rhudy, Hunter Gilbert, Jeff Welch, and Jason Long honored to serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel after 12:00 p.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
