Mrs. Mary Martha McDaniel, age 76, of Fairmount, Georgia, (Pickens County, Georgia) peacefully departed this life on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love and presence of her devoted family.

Born on June 17, 1949, in Murray County, Georgia, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Richard and Beulah R. Land Ghorley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Leon McDaniel; an infant brother, General Lee Ghorley; her sisters, Brenda Duvall, Shirley Edge, and Carolyn Ghorley; a son-in-law, Joe Collis; and a special companion, Jerry Lavely.

Mary dedicated many years of her life as a tufting machine operator at Shaw Industries. A woman of quiet strength and deep faith, she attended Salacoa Baptist Church in Cherokee County, Georgia.

Mary's heart found joy in life's simplest and most beautiful pleasures. She loved tending to her garden, where her nurturing hands brought flowers and vegetables to life. She found peace and excitement in camping and fishing, and most of all, she treasured every moment spent with her family and friends. Whether it was sharing stories around a campfire or laughter around the dinner table, her presence was a comforting light to all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, James R. (Dena) McDaniel of Ranger, GA; daughters, Renee (Scotty) Childers and Jamie Collis, both of Fairmount, GA; grandchildren, Brittney McDaniel, J.T. (Alexis) McDaniel, Bridgette McDaniel, Ashley (Daniel) Salters, Leslie (Matt) Rampley, and Caleb McDaniel; great-grandchildren, Jace, Mabri, and Briar Rampley, Scarlett and Hunter Salters, James, Jacob, Gloria, Kaci, Aiden, and Christian McDaniel; sister, Diane Morrison of Calhoun, GA; and dear friends, Mary Frances Roden of Fairmount and Viola Lewis of Calhoun. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Salacoa (Greely) Baptist Church, Cherokee County, Georgia, with Reverend Wilbur Ridings officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning one hour prior to the service.
