Obituary

Mrs. Mary Evelyn Farmer Harmon, age 73, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 31, 2026, at Pruitt Health Care in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Evelyn was born June 29, 1952, in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Elmer William and Mary Margorie “Margie” Banks Witherow. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Farmer; her beloved daughter and son-in-law, April and Gary Theis; her cherished grandson, Jacob Theis; her sisters, Frankie Witherow and Linda Loner; and her brothers, Luther Witherow and Herman Witherow.

Evelyn was a 1970 graduate of Eastbrook High School and devoted her life to her home and family. Her greatest joy was caring for those she loved, and she remained deeply devoted to them throughout her life. She endured the profound loss of many members of her immediate family with quiet strength and grace.

In recent years, Evelyn faced the challenges of dementia with courage. Though the illness took much from her, it never diminished the love she carried for her family nor the love they held for her. Now, her suffering has ended, and she is at peace—reunited with her beloved daughter April, her grandson Jacob, and the many family members she so dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Lee Harmon of Dalton, GA; her son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Regina Farmer of Dalton, GA; step-daughter, Audra and Jerry Leopard; step-son, Jeremy and Laura Harmon, all of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Alexis Hewitt of Cartersville, GA, Carter Harmon, and Preston Harmon; sister-in-law, Becky Farmer of Dalton, GA; sister-in-law, Louise Witherow of Dalton, GA; brother-in-law, Jimmy Loner of Rocky Face, GA; special cousins, Jimmie and Tommy Stroud of Dalton, GA; special friends, Christine Theis of Dalton, GA, Rita and Eddie Stanfield of Chickamauga, GA; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rita Stanfield for her many visits and acts of kindness, and to the staff of Pruitt Health Care for their compassionate care and devotion.
