Mrs. Mary Ruth Grooms, age 75, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, January 09, 2014 at the local hospital. Mary was born June 27, 1938 in Hixson, TN a daughter of the late Ebb and Dollie Howard Poteet. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Therman Grooms, son, Randy Poteet, brother, Charles Poteet.

She is survived by her children, Alvin and Melissa Grooms, Marvin Cox, Marlene Eaker, Shelia Cox all of Tunnel Hill, GA, Eugene Poteet of Dalton, GA, Eddie Talbert, Janice Talbert both of Texas; brother and sister-in-law, JT and Betty Poteet of Tennessee; twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Ruth Grooms will be held Saturday January 11, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Tony Wyatt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Saturday.
