Mrs. Martha Louise Wheat, age 92 of Dalton, Georgia departed this life Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia. She was born July 21, 1933 in Dalton, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her father Ivan Broom, parents Mattie and F.H. McNabb, brothers, Steve McNabb, Frank McNabb, Fletcher McNabb, sister Ellen Sales. She was the last charter member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Jessie Wheat of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Lynne Wheat of Chatsworth, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Brent Watkins of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Calvin Wheat of Chatsworth, GA, Jennifer Watkins of Dalton, GA, Jessica Watkins of Arlington, VA; great grandson, Ivan Wheat, Evan Wheat, Michael Watkins; brother Gary McNabb of Okeechobee, FL; sisters-in-law, Vickie McNabb, Christy McNabb, Dot Wheat, Sue and George Morrison, JoAnn and Jimmy Teasley, Darlene Pritchard; special family, Lois and Clifford Wheat; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Martha Louise Wheat will be held Monday October 27, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Johnny Beason and Reverend Lamar Beason officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Calvin Wheat, Ivan Wheat, Evan Wheat, Michael Watkins, Cordell McNabb and Chad Wheat serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and after 12:00 noon on Monday.
