Mrs. Martha Louise Goodson Callahan, age 84, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday, January 27, 2024, at The Fountains of Calhoun Assisted Living in Calhoun, Georgia surrounded by her loving family.

Louise was born July 26, 1939, in Dalton, Georgia, daughter of the late William H. and Alma Lou Hall Goodson. Louise was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years Rufus Charles Callahan, brothers, Willard Goodson, Wayne Goodson, a sister Anita Wilson, a great-great-granddaughter, Caelynn Reed, and her best friend, Margaret Goswick. Louise was a 1957 graduate of Valley Point High School and was retired from Valley Point Elementary School where she worked as a Para Pro. She liked to read, work in the yard and loved strawberries. She was a member of the Center Point Baptist Church.

She is survived by  her daughters and son-in-law, LaDoane and Gary Wilson of Dalton, GA, and Pamela Tate of St. Petersburg, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Stacy Callahan and Lisa Jones of Calhoun, GA, and Mike and Theresa Callahan of Hayesville, NC; former daughter-in-law, Tracy Callahan of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Adam and Maranda Reed, Josh Reed, Kristin and Keith Gray, Zac and Megan Callahan, Misti Tate, Ryan Tate, Angel and Scott Ledford, and April and Casey Mulkey; great-grandchildren, Emmett Gray, Gatlin Gray, Kylie Gray, Wren Louise Callahan, Alec Gamble, Michaela Tate, Caleb and Macey Reed, Cody and Eileen Reed, Alyssa Reed, Aubri Reed, Aiden Reed and Skylar Reed, Austin Edrington, Jonah Baker, Abigail Mulkey, Timothy Mulkey and Jonathan Mulkey; great-great-grandchildren, Kaedyn Reed and Delilah Reed; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Louise Callahan, will be held Thursday February 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Matthew Futch officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at West Hill Cemetery with Adam Reed, Josh Reed, Zac Callahan, Cody Reed, Alec Gamble, Ryan Tate, Caleb Reed and Keith Gray serving as pallbearers and Emmett Gray, Gatlin Gray, Aiden Reed and Skylar Reed serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.
