Mr. Marion Franklin Smith age 68, of Lafayette, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday October 14, 2020 at the local hospital. He was born May 24, 1952 in Dalton, GA a son of the late Hulen Smith Sr. and Frances Crider Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Hulen Jr., Edward and James Smith, sister, Mary Frances Overby, grandson, C.J. Long and his father-in-law, Joe Shelton and mother-in-law, Callie Shelton Slaugher.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Smith of the residence; sons and daughter-in-law, Shane Smith and his girlfriend, Dana Tengebekova of Adairsville, GA, Chris and Beth Long of Ringgold, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Sandy and Ramsey Blackmon, Shina Long of Lafayette, GA, Tina Long of Chatsworth, GA; sister, Elizabeth Scroggins of Tunnel Hill, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd Smith of Chatsworth, GA, JW and Belinda Smith of Dalton, GA, TW Smith of Rocky Face, GA, Thomas and Chris Smith of Tunnel Hill, GA; thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Marion Franklin Smith will be held Tuesday October 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Tommy Ridley and his grandson Jacob Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday.

Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
