Mrs. Maria Socorro Porras , age 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the local hospital. She was born January 19, 1932 in Mexico, a daughter of the late Fernando Nieto and Petra Hermosillo. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymundo Porras, grandson, Raymundo Morales, granddaughter, Carrie Porras, great grandchild, Ezekiel Vicencio, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her children, Manuela and Tomas Morales of Calhoun, GA, Olga Porras and Raul Ortega, Guadalupe Soto and Mike Luttrell, Eva Patricia and Enrique Lopez, Maria Socorro and Jorge Vicencio, Jesus Porras and Angelina Moreno, Jorge and Elda Porras, Raymundo and Aurora Porras, Ruben and Rosa Porras all of Dalton, GA; 30 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 16, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Paul Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 11:00 a.m. Friday until the service hour.
