Mrs. Lynda Lee Wilson Ornstein , age 82 of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at her residence. She was born October 10, 1939 in Decatur, Alabama. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1956 and later went on to earn a nursing degree from Hamilton Hospital Nursing School. She began her nursing career at Hamilton Home Health and eventually retired as an industrial nurse from Shaw Industries. She enjoyed the first several years of retirement in Town Creek, AL on the Tennessee River. Her favorite activities included boat rides on their pontoon, watching river sunsets, Alabama football, decorating for all holiday celebrations, sewing and cooking for her family. She will be remembered for signature birthday song she sang for each family member young and old on their special day. She was a member of Branding Iron Cowboy Church in Elgin, AL while they lived in Town Creek.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Lee Sr. of Decatur, AL, Lottie Lee Weatherwax of Moulton, AL, sisters, Doris Lee Mock of Tyler, TX, Louise Lee Thomas of Decatur, AL, Charlotte Lee Livingston of Hartselle, AL, Sue Lee Kitchens of Moulton, AL. brother, Walter" Bud" Lee Jr. of Hartselle, AL.
She is survived by her husband, Melvyn Ornstein of Rocky Face, GA; sons, Jesse Wilson of Rocky Face, GA, Rodney Wilson of Town Creek, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Mike Jewell of Dalton, GA; stepdaughters, Lauren Ornstein Johnson (Scott) of Murfreesboro, TN, Sandra Hamby (Steve) of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Nathen and Savannah Morrison of Rocky Face, GA, Meagen LeANNE and Warren Shepard of Rocky face, GA, Destin Jewell of Dalton, GA, Natalie Wilson of Town Creek, AL, Blake Gillum of Murfreesboro, TN, Patrick Main of Ooltewah, TN; great grandchildren, Jewells Lee and Edie Monroe Morrison of Rocky Face, GA; nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held Friday April 15, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at the United Memorial Gardens with Reverend Darey Kittle officiating. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donation to the American Cancer Society Research Fund.
