Mr. Louis William "Lou" Schmidt, Jr, age 76, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at his home. Lou was born October 6,1943 in Camden, New Jersey, the son of the late Louis William Schmidt, Sr and   Louise Margaret Miller Schmidt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Gaynor Schmidt. Lou was a retired Philadelphia, PA police officer.  He was an avid baseball card collector and been collecting for over 40 years.  Lou had enjoyed going to Rosswoods Adult Day service enjoying the activities and fellowship with the friends.  Lou also was a member of the United States Army and served proudly during the Vietnam conflict.

Lou is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (George) McClain of Resaca, GA, Heather Schmidt of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Richard (Mary) Schmidt of New Jersey; sister, Madelyn ( Dennis) Daley of North Wales, PA; grandchildren, Lauren DiCataldo, Sean DiCataldo, Daniel Axten, Reagan Axten, Eric McClain, Ashley Callahan, Gabriel Callahan, Steven Callahan; great-grandchildren, Deliah DiCataldo; brother-in-law, Harry (Donna) Gaynor of Missouri, sister-in-law, Susan ( Bernard) O' Neil of Phiadelphia, PA, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Louis William Schmidt Sr, will be held Saturday October 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from Ponders Calhoun Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until the service of 1:00 p.m.
