Mr. Louie Burton Muse, age 93, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday morning, July 21, 2026, at The Fountains of Calhoun Assisted Living Facility.

Louie was born October 22, 1932, in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Lester Anderson and Magdalene Josephine “Maggie” Gaston Muse. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-nine years, Mildred Kathleen Henderson Muse; a grandson, Shane Muse; his brothers, Eugene Charles (June) Muse, Rev. Billy (Callie) Muse, John “J.L.” (Lenora) Muse, and Jack (Pearl) Muse; and his sisters, Myrtle Davidson, Tommie Lou (Bill) Amos, and Linda (Carl) Rice.

Louie was a 1950 graduate of Valley Point High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country for twenty-one years before retiring from military service as a Chief Warrant officer, a position he was very proud of. He later taught refrigeration at Calhoun High School for several years before beginning a career with the Georgia Department of Labor, where he faithfully served for more than twenty years before retiring.

Louie was a man of strong character, independent and strong-willed, yet generous and giving to those around him. Above all, he was a man who loved deeply. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. He was also deeply devoted to his country, proudly serving in the United States Army and carrying with him a lasting love and respect for the nation he had sworn to defend.

Most importantly, Louie loved his Savior. He and his wife faithfully attended Cedar Valley Church of God and Cross Pointe Church of God for many years. His faith was an important part of his life, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, service, and faith that will continue to live on through the family he cherished so dearly.

He is survived by his daughter, Gail and Richard Lane of Dalton, GA; sons, Perry and Nila Muse of Johnson City, TN, and David and Peggy Muse of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Sarah and Brad Zinsmeister, Krista and Jerry Vineyard, Jeremy and Autumn Muse, Alanna and Cory Rupert, Jessie Korpp, and Monica Muse; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Louie Burton Muse will be held Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, with his nephew, Dr. Kelly Grant, and his son, David Muse, officiating. He will be laid to rest with his wife and family at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Resaca, Georgia, with his close family honored to serve as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday and after 10:00 a.m. Sunday until the service hour.
