Mrs. Lou S. Davidson, age 94, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Thursday morning, December 4, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Lou was born October 31, 1920 in Lawrenceville Township, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Delmar C. and Lulu Elizabeth Eggert Merritt. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Smythe, her second husband, Kenneth Davidson, sons-in-law, Billy W. Blea and Donald Paulison and her six brothers and sisters.
Lou proudly served her country as a WAVE during World War II, in Washington, D.C. Following the death of her first husband she relocated to South Florida, and married her second husband and was actively involved in their business (North Miami Garden and Pet) and raised their three daughters. After retirement, Lou worked with her husband at Wycliff Bible Translators in Waxhaw, NC. Lou relocated to Resaca, GA, in 1999 and was a member of Resaca First Baptist Church. She was an avid artist, painting porcelain, watercolors and oils. She loved teaching art which led to writing a book, "Barbilet". Teaching the Bible by Teach Art. Her second book, "A Lifetime of Poetry", chronicles her journey thru life as wife, widow, wife again, and mother. Lou was a testimony for Christ to all who met her.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Joy Blea of Tunnel Hill, GA, Donadeane Paulison of Clovis, NM, Ginni and Joseph Pistacchio of Resaca, GA; six grandchildren and their spouses, and twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lou S. Davidson will be held Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Joseph Pistacchio officiating. Billy Blea, Anderson Blea, Harrison Blea, Keith Young, Joe Pistacchio and Austin Blea serving as pallbearers. She will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with graveside military rites provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel after 12:00 p.m. noon, Sunday, December 14, 2014 until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wycliffe Bible Translators, P.O. Box 628200, Orlando, FL, 32862-8200.
