Mr. Lonnie G. Grooms, age 63 of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Thursday July 31, 2014 at his home. Lonnie was born February 23, 1951 in Chatsworth, Georgia, a son of the late Buck and Nina Grooms. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Dewey, Thurman and Carl Grooms.

He is survived by his son Neal Grooms of Chatsworth, GA; daughters and son-in-law, Marlene Long of Dalton, GA, Melissa and Dinos Pateritsas of Varnell, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mack and Wanda Grooms of Chatsworth, GA, Jack and Verla Grooms, Ralph Grooms of Dalton, GA; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Lonnie G. Grooms will be held Monday August 4, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend James Watts officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Interment will be in the Eton Cemetery.
