Mr. Lloyd Sylvester Cochran, age 86, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Lloyd was born June 12, 1926 in Polk County, Tennessee, a son of the late Gordon Prince and Lillis Brackett Cochran. He was also preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Kathleen Babb Cochran on December 1, 2007, and brothers, Leonard, Delmar, Cecil and Bobby Cochran and sisters, Genevie Ellis, Minnie Ruth Hollis and Myrtle Hollis Franks. Lloyd proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the owner of Cochran's Phillips 66 on South Dixie Hwy for over thirty years. Lloyd was a member of the Dug Gap Baptist Church. Lloyd was a true outdoorsman and loved making and sharing his garden with his neighbors and family.

He is survived by his son, Charles Manis; daughter, Linda Ingle; granddaughter and her husband, Kelley and Eddy Davis; great-granddaughters, Jade Dowiat and Kirby Dowiat; brother and sisters-in-law, Hershall and Ella Cochran, Frances Cochran; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Dee Jones and Bertha Wells; special friends at Rosewood Assisted Living in Fort Oglethorpe; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Lloyd S. Cochran will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bruce Edwards officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at the Dug Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 1:00 p.m. Sunday until the funeral hour.
