Mrs. Lillie Ruth Elrod, age 91, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday morning, October 24, 2018 at the Gordon Health Care in Calhoun, Georgia.  Lillie was one of three surviving children, of thirteen children born, July 23, 1927 in Jay, Florida, to the late, Rhoda and Ella Forbes Morris.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Arnold Elrod and a son-in-law, Jack Anderson.

Lillie was raised on a farm in Jay, Florida, and was a never afraid of hard work.  She worked over twenty five years at Cabin Craft. She along with her husband farmed and raised poultry and owned and operated G & R Rugs.  She was a member of Midway Baptist Church where she taught the youth Sunday School Class.  She loved to sing and had the most beautiful alto voice. She sang many years in a quartet with her husband and Dot and Lloyd Phillips.  She lived a true Christian life and enjoyed cooking and everyone gathering at her house to eat, always happy and had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Anderson of Sugar Valley, GA; son, Stanley Elrod; grandchildren, Zonda Wilson, Ginger Carter and Rex Anthony and Leah Elrod; great-grandchildren, Isaac Elrod, Taelyn Carter and Kanden Carter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Quinton and Kathy Morris of Chatsworth, GA, and Billy and Edna Morris of Jay, FL; nieces and nephew, Kathy Ann, Dorrie, Gwen and Brian; several other nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lillie Ruth Elrod will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Dwaine Shadix officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday and after 11:00 a.m. Sunday until the service hour.
