Mrs. Lillie Mae Dyer, age 94, of Dalton, GA, departed this life, Friday April 22, 2016 at the local hospital. Lillie was born February 20, 1922 in Dalton, GA, she was a daughter of the late J. D. and Pearl Long Bryson. She was also preceded in death by her husband Carlos Dyer, her 4 brothers, Clint Bryson, Clarence Bryson, Virgil Bryson, and Arthur Bryson, and 3 sisters, Lucille Bryson Brown, Shirley Anita Bryson, and Dorothy Bryson; and her favorite 4-legged friend, Benji. Lillie was a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly. She owned and operated the Dalton Tourist Court on Highway 41 for several years. She loved her grandchildren and had a keen interest in local and national politics. In her later years she grew to love the game of baseball, not just any team, but she especially loved the Atlanta Braves.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Maggie Thompson Sr. of Gulf Breeze, FL; grandsons, Gary and Cindy Thompson Jr., Paul and Kelly Thompson all of Chattanooga, TN; five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Forrest Davis of Dalton, GA; caregivers, Elaine and Larry Thornton of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.
A service for Mrs. Lillie Mae Dyer will be held at a later date.
