Obituary

Mrs. Lillie Mae Coleman Baker, age 98, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, March 14, 2021, at her residence. Mae was born February 24, 1923 in Copperhill, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Grady and Ida Hardness Coleman.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luster Baker, who died August 16, 1992, a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Willis "Joe" and Reba Baker, sisters, Mamie Painter, Edna Barfield and Imogene Manor, and brothers, Wilford Coleman, Clarence Coleman, James Coleman, Calvin Coleman.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Herman and Wanda Baker of Dalton, Edward and Jeleta Baker of Calhoun, GA, and Reba Baker of Dalton, GA; sister, Hazel Smith of Chatsworth, GA; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren;  several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all at Calhoun Health (a special thanks to Valerie Stafford at Calhoun Health Care) and Tapestry Hospice for taking such good care of our loving mother.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lillie Mae Coleman Baker will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 1:00 o'clock p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Shane Pierce, Reverend Tim Cheatham and Reverend Roger Baker officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Dogwood Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Tunnel Hill, Georgia, with Tim Baker, Roger Baker, Ronald Tavares, Robert Baker and Brian Baker serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 o'clock p.m. until 9:00 o'clock p.m. Wednesday

Due to the national health crisis and the COVID-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
