"Len" Weiss
November 11, 1942 – January 14, 2025
Mr. Leonard G. "Butch" Weiss, age 82 of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, departed this life 14 January 2025 in Ocala, Florida. He was born November 11, 1942 in McKeesport, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Judith Ann Adamson Weiss of Rocky Face, Georgia, his father and mother, Leonard J. Weiss 42 and Laura G. Weiss 90, both of McKeesport, PA, also sisters Doris M. Weiss Murcek of Greensburg, PA and Ruth L. Weiss Yalenty of Pittsburgh, PA.
He is survived by nephews Martin A. Murcek, Jr. of New Smyrna Beach, FL., David F. Murcek of Phoenix, AZ., and nieces Laura S. Murcek of Larkspur, CA., and Lisa Yalenty Hoey of Pittsburgh, PA.
He was an Air Force veteran and after basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX, and technical training at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL., he served in the Second Airborne Missile Maintenance Squadron at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana.
Leonard attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology, now Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA and graduated in 1971 from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Economics. In 1972, he joined General Telephone of the Southeast, and after initial management training in Durham, NC., was sent to Dalton, GA where he resided in Rocky Face, GA for the next 50 years.
He was a member, along with his wife, of the North Georgia Chapter of the NAA, (National Association of Accounts) now the IMA, (Institute of Management Accounts).
With his wife Judith, he owned and operated a small business Arts and Crafts Company that manufactured Bavarian Wax Art objects and exhibited and sold these items at better Arts and Craft Shows throughout the Eastern United States for over 20 years.
Along with his wife Judith who was a forty-eight-year parishioner, he attended Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 968 Haig Mill Lake Road, Dalton, GA, 30721.
Inurnment will be held later beside his wife at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church Memory Garden.
