Ms. Laura Mae Lock Groomes , age 97, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday morning, February 14, 2023, at Ridgewood Manor in Dalton, Georgia.

Laura Mae was born August 21, 1925 in Reliance, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Lock.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Lee Pippin, sisters, Marie Jenkins, Mildred Clayton and Gussie Grizzle, brothers, William Lock, Melvin Lock, Milburn Lock and James "Junior" Lock.

She was "Momma" a strong lady, hardworking and caring person.

She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Dorman, Margie Jordan, Pamela Pippin all of Dalton, GA, and Annette Plott of Calhoun, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Ruthi Pippin of Okeechobee, FL, and Eddie and Vicki Pippin of Dalton, GA; sister-in-law, Ovilee Lock of Dalton, GA; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Laura Mae Lock Groomes will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Randy Postell officiating. She will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens with Eddie Pippin, Dewayne Jones, Michael Silvers, Dudley Lock, Michael Lock, and Rodney Lock honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
