Mr. Larry Lane Jones, age 53, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, January 7, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.   Lane was born April 1, 1966 in Dalton, Georgia.   Lane was a 1984 graduate of Southeast High School.  Lane was a master craftsman and woodworker.  He loved woodworking, motocross, fishing and being outdoors.  He worked many years at Wood Hollow Cabinets and construction work.  He enjoyed working and his life was devoted to helping others.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Ruby Patton Smith, a cousin, Jonathan Gage Marchman, uncles, Arthur Smith, Jr., Billy Smith and Frank Smith and an aunt, Elizabeth Smith.

He is survived by his son, Cody Lee Jones of Dalton, GA; uncle and aunt who loved him as a son and who he thought of as his parents, James "Buddy" and Betty Jean Marchman of Dalton, GA;  father, Larry Jones; former wife, Daphney Jones of Dalton, GA; mother, Janis Smith Daughtry both of Dalton, GA; step-son, Steve Allen and Suzie Massingill; granddaughters, Catherine Isabella and Victoria Elizabeth Massingill all of Dayton, OH; sister, Evonne Palacio of Rocky Face, GA; brother, Jason and Shelley Biggs of Talking Rock, GA; aunts and uncles, Mary and Junior Burkett of Rocky Face, GA, Nellie Ruth Smith, Denver and Maggie Smith, Raymond Smith both of Dalton, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Larry Lane Jones will be held Friday, January 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Gary McPherson officiating. He will be laid to rest with his grandparents at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with his close family serving as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Friday until the service hour.
