Mr. L V Summey, age 91, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, August 17, 2014 at his home. L V was born April 15, 1923 in Murray County, Georgia, a son of the late Charlie and Mamie Banks Summey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Davis Summey, brothers, Cecil Summey, Ben Summey, sisters, Una Summey, Frances Mae Sunney, and Jessie McClure. Mr. Summey worked in the textile industry for many years. He was the owner of L and S Carpet and MVP Carpet. His life work consisted of gardening and leading others to Christ. He was a member of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Larry Summey of Dalton, GA; daughter, Teresa Silvers of Chatsworth, GA; brother, Paul Summey of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Merinda and Phillip Cash, Derek Silvers of Chatsworth, GA; great grandchildren, Landon and Brayden Frost; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen and Joel McDonald of Ringgold, Virginia Summey, Linda Loughridge, Jim and Geneva Smith, Clyde and Juanita Parker, Martha Davis, Betty Davis, Hubert and Sue Davis all of Chatsworth, GA; nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. L V Summey will be held Tuesday August 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ponders Melrose Chapel. Interment will follow beside his loving wife in the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday.
