Mr. Kiser Eugene "Gene" Plumley , age 87 of Rossville, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, April 3, 2022, at his residence.

Gene was born August 1, 1934 in Gilmer County, Georgia, a son of the late Kiser Octavous and Mattie Martha Patterson Plumley.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Bryan Scott Plumley, brothers, Jimmy Lee Plumley, who died in Vietnam, Daniel C. Plumley, Tony H. Plumley, and Joseph Dale Plumley, and sisters, Maria Gail Plumley and Delane Southern Barnette.

Gene was a 1949 graduate of Gilmer County High School and proudly served his country during the Korean War in the Air Force.  He received his B.A. degree from North West Georgia College.  He retired after 40 years with Flex Graphic Printing and was instrumental in developing the microwave popcorn bag.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a minister and deacon and member of Cloud Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed bass fishing, antique cars and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Jessee Plumley of the residence and would have celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary on June 10, 2020; daughter and son-in-law, Trisha and Randy Wilson of Rossville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, David and Angela Plumley of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Morgan and Josh Roberts, Zach and Maggie Plumley, Michael and Rebecca Wilson, Dylan Plumley, Jessee Plumley, and Dakota Plumley; great grandchildren, Ranger and Tucker Roberts, McKayla and Kaizer Wilson, and little, Denver Grace Plumley who is expected to arrive on Gene's birthday, August 1, 2022; sisters, Betty Sue Chadwick of Cumming, GA, Bobbie Lou Chestnut of Fayetteville, GA, Brenda Diane Coulter of LaFayette, GA, Mary Ruth Parker of Ellijay, GA, Cathy Darlene Chadwick of Chatsworth, GA, and Barbara Jo Mayfield of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Charles B. Plumley of Blue Ridge, GA, Jerry A. Plumley of Lilburn, GA; several nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Kiser Eugene "Gene" Plumley will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 at 12:00 o'clock p.m. Noon at Ponders Brainerd Chapel, 4203 Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, TN, with his pastor, Reverend Bill Gardner, his grandson, Reverend Zach Plumley and special friend, Jerry Morris officiating.  He will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Dalton American Legion Post #112 providing military graveside honors.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Brainerd Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. Friday until the service hour.
