Mr. Kenneth Eugene Long Sr., known as "Grandpa" by his family, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life late Wednesday evening, January 29, 2020 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Long was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 22, 1933.  He was a son of the late Hairm Long and Estelle Morris Long.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Junior Long, Carl Long, Walter Long, Grady Long and Wayne Long; sisters, Dorothy Tatum, Betty Harper, and Mary Long.

He was a Veteran of The United States National Guard having served our Country faithfully for five years.  Mr. Long retired in 1996 from Shaw Industries Plant 4 in Dalton after 22 years of employment.  He, along with his wife, was a member of the Faith & Deliverance Church in Resaca, Georgia.

Mr. Long is survived by his loving wife, Doris Roden Long of Calhoun, to whom he was married to on January 5, 1957; daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Billy Keeler of Dalton, Regina Colbert of Calhoun; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Eugene Long Jr. and Joan, Scott and Carol Long all of Dalton, and Steve Long of Calhoun; sister, Eloise Roden of Senoia, Georgia; grandchildren and spouses, Terrence and Crystal Bishop, Misty Keeler and Chris Mann, BJ Keeler, Suzi Walraven, Samantha Long, Shawn Long, Chase and Angie Long, and Jessica Long; great-grandchildren, Jade Bishop, Taylor Walraven, Trey Walraven, Tucker Walraven, Misha Keeler, Colt Cook, and Mason Long; several nieces and nephews and friends also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Kenneth "Grandpa" Long Sr. will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 2:00 PM from Faith & Deliverance Church in Resaca with Reverend James David Nix officiating and Billy Keeler delivering the eulogy.  Mr. Long will be taken to the church on Sunday to lie in state from 1:00 PM until the service hour.  He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.  Trey Walraven, Terrence Bishop, David Roden, BJ Keeler, Chris Taylor, and Chase Long will serve as active pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Alcantar, Aaron Underwood, Kenneth Long Jr., Shawn Long, Steve Long, and Scott Long.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2020 after 5:00 PM and all day and evening, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Ponders Calhoun Chapel.
