Obituary

Kenneth "Pork Chop" Hackney, 61, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family.

Kenneth was born in Savannah, Georgia on August 29, 1956. He was a son of the late Howard Hackney and Betty Lou Haygood.

He was a well known person in the dirt track racing circuits, and was a racer himself at North GA Speedway. He always enjoyed the Dirt Track Saturday nights with his family. He was the owner of the Soap Stick Flea-market and K & H Flea Market. Most recently, he was an auctioneer at Fat Boys Auction in Red Bud. He was always the life of the party and was a loyal friend to everyone. He was very proud of the close, loving family he had raised. Kenneth always wanted the best for everyone he knew and everyone he loved. He and his wife, Bindu, attended Fairview Church of God in Ranger, Georgia. He was employed by the Gordon County Road Department for the last several years.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Bindu Hackney of the residence; daughters and sons-in-law, Kerry and Adam Rush, Kelly and Brent Silvers all of Calhoun, Betsy Yohan of Milledgeville; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Destinee Hackney of Resaca, Kenny Hackney Jr and Stephanie of Mississippi; brother, Tony Carillo of Calhoun; sisters, Joanne Mitchell, of Calhoun, Jeanie Gibbs of Indiana, and Patsy Hanif of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Kadence Hackney, Elyn Silvers, Amaya Yohan, Noah Yohan, Colton Thomason, Gabe Hackney, Gage Hackney, and soon to be born granddaughter, Brooklyn Hackney; special friends that were like his brothers, Kenneth "Buck" Wheat of Sugar Valley, his work buddy, John Roberts of Calhoun, and Jeremy Seabolt of Calhoun; several nieces, nephews, and other friends also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Kenneth Hackney will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. David Kirkland, Randy Wheat, Dennis Farmer, Jeremy Seabolt, Colter Wheat, and Adam Pruitt will be honored to serve as pallbearers. Honorary escort will be Kenneth "Buck" Wheat, John Roberts, and Jeremy Seabolt.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2018 after 5:00 PM at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home.
