In Loving Memory of Kenneth Arthur Chadwick
October 9, 1954 - July 2, 2026
There are some people whose lives are measured not by the things owned or the titles they held, but by the hearts they changed. Kenneth was one of those people.
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at home surrounded by the love of his family and the presence of God, Kenneth finished his earthly journey and stepped into the presence of the Savior he faithfully served. While our hearts ache from his absence, Heaven is undoubtedly sweeter because one of its finest has come home.
Kenneth was born on October 9, 1954, to the late Lonzo and Ida Chadwick. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work, honesty, and caring for others- qualities that became the foundation of the life he would build.
His greatest blessing began more than fifty-one years ago when he married the love of his life, Cynthia. Together they built far more than a home. They built a family where love was constant, faith was unwavering, laughter filled the rooms, and everyone knew they belonged. Through every season of life, they stood side by side, proving that true love is found not only in life's happiest moments but in faithfully walking together through every joy and every sorrow.
Kenneth was first and foremost a family man.
He was the proud father of Kenneth Michael "Kenny" Chadwick, who welcomed him into heaven; Kimberly Chandler and her husband, Ashley; Kevin Chadwick and his wife, Kristin. He was Papaw to Kristen Stephenson and her husband, Adam, Kaley Chandler, Kara Chandler, and Korbin Chadwick, each of whom brought joy to his life.
He spent many years working in maintenance at Coronet Industries before partnering with his son, Kevin, in Chadwick's Lawn Care and Small Engine Repair. His hands always seemed to know how to fix what was broken. Whether it was an engine that wouldn't start, a lawn mower that had seen better days, or something around the house that needed repairing, Kenneth could usually figure it out. He had a gift for working with his hands, but an even greater gift for caring with his heart.
If you ever needed help, you never had to wonder whether Kenneth would come. He simply would. He was the kind of man who quietly showed up. He didn't need attention or recognition.
He wasn't interested in praise. If someone needed a hand, he gave it. If someone needed encouragement, he offered it. If someone needed a friend, they found it in him.
Kenneth loved fishing, tinkering with motors, Square-Body Chevys, and solving problems that others couldn't. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures and never needed much to be happy-as long as he was surrounded by the people he loved.
He had a quiet spirit that could sometimes be misunderstood by those who didn't know him. Because he was deaf in one ear, some people mistook his silence for seriousness. But those who truly knew Kenneth discovered something entirely different. They found one of the funniest men they had ever met. His humor wasn't loud or attention-seeking. It was effortless. A perfectly timed joke. A quick smile. A playful grin that could make an entire room laugh. He had a way of making ordinary moments unforgettable.
As years passed, something beautiful happened. The strong, hardworking provider everyone admired became even more tender. The father, who had always protected his family, became even more expressive with his love. His gentle heart seemed to grow larger with every passing year, and those closest to him were blessed to experience a softness that made him love even more.
He wasn't only a father to his own children. He became a dad to many who weren't born into his family. He welcomed without judgement, loved without condition, and made them feel like they had a place to belong.
Kenneth faithfully served the Lord for many years alongside his beloved wife and pastor, Cynthia, at Open Door Light House Church. His faith was not something he merely spoke about-it was something he lived.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Kenneth Michael "Kenny" Chadwick; his parents, Lonzo and Ida Chadwick; his brother, Bob Chadwick; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Ruby Carnes; his brother-in-law, Terry Carnes; and his nephew, T.J. Odell.
Left to carry forward his legacy are his devoted wife of 51 years, Cynthia; his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Ashley; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kristin. His treasured grandchildren Kristen and her husband, Adam Stephenson, Kaley Chandler, Kara Chandler, and Korbin Chadwick; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Michael and Shirley Carnes, Annette and Rick Ross, Diane and Martine Magana, and Johnny and Tracy Carnes; along with many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and countless people whom he loved.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at Open Door Light House Church, 3700 Tibbs Bridge Rd, Dalton, GA. A celebration of Kenneth's life will follow with his son, Kevin, and Shane Calhoun officiating. Intermittent will follow at Mineral Springs Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Chadwick, Ashley Chandler, Adam Stephenson, Martine Magana, Temon Carnes, Rick Ross, and Randall Carnes.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to their church family at Open Door Light House Church for every prayer, every meal, every visit, every phone call, and every act of love shown throughout Kenneth's illness. Special thanks are extended to Annette and Rick Ross, Diane and Martine Magana, Sam and Annette Hooper, Shane Calhoun and family, and Amanda Garcia for standing faithfully beside our family.
We also extend heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers of Hamilton Hospice: Alex, Karen, Danielle, Kaitlyn, and Tammy. Your compassion and kindness brought peace and comfort during one of life's most difficult journeys.
Some people leave behind memories; there are people who leave behind a legacy. Kenneth leaves both. His hands are finally at rest, and his body has been made whole.
His work here is finished, and he has heard "Well done thy good and faithful servant." Our hearts will miss him every day; we find comfort in knowing this is not goodbye.
It is simply until we meet again.
