Ms. Kathy Lynn Burns, age 64, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 17, 2024, at Advent Murray Hospital in Chatsworth, Georgia, with her beloved sister, Tami Weaver, by her side.

Born August 3, 1960, in Dalton, Georgia, Kathy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family knew no bounds. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Known for her caring and giving spirit, Kathy's kindness touched everyone who knew her. Her smile could light up even the darkest room, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.

Kathy attended Dalton High School and worked for many years as a waitress at Shoney's, where her friendliness and dedication earned her the admiration of her coworkers and customers. She was also a special friend to many and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond "R.F." Burns and Mary Katherine Dunn Burns; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Vicki Sumner, Joan Smith, Peggy and Bobby Mashburn, and Wayland Crisp, Lamar Sumner; her nephew, Benjamin Kyle Weaver; and her niece, Keri Ann Joyce.

Kathy is survived by her loving family, including her daughters, Christy Henderson of Chatsworth, GA, Rachael King of Dalton, GA, and Katie Neighbors of Cleveland, GA; her son, Paul Neighbors, Jr., of Tunnel Hill, GA; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Jeanette Burns, Sr., Greg and Robyn Burns, Jerome and Linda Sue Burns, Ronnie and Regina Burns, and Tony Burns; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennifer Crisp, Tami and Junior Weaver, Dewayne Smith, and Floyd Bartlett; her special niece, Rhonda Smith; her cherished grandchildren, Justin Duran and Lily Collins, Haylie Duran, Aiden Duran, Dillon Henderson, Alexis Henderson, Hannah Henderson, Halle King, Avery Nguyen, and Daylan Neighbors; and her precious great-grandchildren, Ryder, Gracelyn, Brynleigh, and Benton. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will celebrate Kathy's life with services on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. She will be laid to rest alongside her mother at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia. Pallbearers will include Paul Neighbors, Jr., Justin Duran, Haylie Duran, and others who will honor her memory.

Visitation will be held at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
